Monday Morning Dump

Clearly, the big news that everyone is talking about is expansion. Before we get into any other news from the weekend, let's get caught up on the expansion talk:

- If there is one thing you are going to read today, let it me Dan Wetzel's column about how expansion centers around the BCS and the Big Ten's ability to con the Big XII and the Big East.

- This is probably the best summary you will read.

- Apparently, Nebraska and Missouri have been given an ultimatum -- a 5 pm deadline on Friday -- to decide whether or not they are going to stay in the Big XII. Nebraska is the key to all of this expansion talk. If they head to the Big Ten, its likely that Texas and company will bolt for the Pac-10. But if the Big Ten can lure Notre Dame, can it prevent any other movement?

- Pete Thamel builds on a point we made last week -- no one cares about the good of college athletics. Its all about the money.

- ESPN has had very limited coverage on this issue, but they did post a couple of articles late last night -- the Big Ten is unaware of any ultimatums and realizes that other conferences can effect their plans; the Pac-10 is allowed to explore options, and could make a decision by the end of the year.

- Stewart Mandel said expansion is a real possibility. If you don't believe it, think about this: Boise State has been rumored to be getting an invite from the MWC for a while, but that has been put on hold.

- There was some talk that Kansas and Kansas State cannot be split up into different conferences, but the only evidence that I can find of that is at the bottom of this article.

- Wait, Ken Starr is the president of Baylor? That Ken Starr?

- Bobby Gonzalez is still alive!

- Arizona State picked up two recruits over the weekend

- Ten John Wooden anecdotes

- The latest transfer list from Goodman

- Cartoon description of why the play-in games are going to be between the 16-17 seeds. Win-shares

- Tom Izzo to the Cavs? Yeah, no chance

- Manhattan's Rico Pickett is heading to Europe

- The ByLaw Blog takes a look at whether or not major colleges get fair treatment from the NCAA

- Brad Stevens signs with IMG for promotional purposes

Umm, what is Randy Foye doing?
