If you haven't heard yet, West Virginia's fans have been a bit rowdy during their last three home games. While earlier issues involved chants using profanity, it came to a head on Wednesday night as WVU fans twice threw objects on the court during the game. Pitt assistant coach Tom Herrion was hit in the face with a coin with about five minutes left in the game.
According to the Daily Athenaeum, West Virginia will be videotaping the student section during Monday's game against West Virginia. There will also be an increased security presence as the Mountaineers attempt to combat the problems with their student section.
Some pretty notable names are speaking out against the actions as well.
Da'Sean Butler:It's annoying. It shows people outside our state that we don't have class. That’s not what we’re about as a team or a state. It gives us a bad name.
Bob Huggins:I love them to death, but whoever threw things on the floor, that's wrong. You can't do that. You put people's safety at risk.
West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin:I was so ashamed and so embarrassed for our state, and I felt so bad for the team and people from Pittsburgh to be subjected to that. That's not who we are. That's not who we are as a state.
Is anyone else now even more excited to see Villanova and West Virginia play?
