Friday's Shootaround: Seton Hall with a big win, Washington loses on a buzzer beater

Seton Hall 80, Louisville 77: Seton Hall landed a huge win as they try to work their way back into the postseason picture. The Pirates were in control for most of this game, taking their biggest lead of the game, up 72-59, with 4:40 left to play. But the Cardinals would go on a run, cutting the lead to 75-72. The play of the game, however, was made by Keon Lawrence. Louisville's Edgar Sosa made a steal and looked to be headed in for a layup that would have cut the lead to one, but Lawrence blocked the shot, and eventually Jeremy Hazell, who finished with 25 points on just 12 shots, put home a dunk to push the lead back to five.

As we mentioned, Hazell played a fantastic game, playing 39 minutes and taking just 12 shots from the floor. With Louisville paying a lot of attention to him, Hazell moved the ball around, allowing guys like Jordan Theodore (17 points, 4 assists) to attack gaps against the Cardinals spread out defense.

UCLA 62, Washington 61: Insane ending out west. Michael Roll hits a free throw with 7.6 seconds left before ... you know what, you just watch it.

The loss drops Washington back to 3-4 in the Pac-10. Reeves Nelson had 16 points to lead four Bruins in double figures, while Quincy Pondexter's 23 points led the way for UW. I think its pretty safe to say the Pac-10 won't be getting an at-large bid.

Butler 48, Loyola IL 47: The Bulldogs were in the lead for most of the night, but couldn't shake the Ramblers, who got a three from Walt Gibler with 46 seconds left to tie the game at 47. After a Willie Veasley free throw, Loyola turned the ball over with just about 8 seconds left. But Shelvin Mack gave it right back by stepping out of bounds. Luckily for the Bulldogs, Loyola took a three off the inbounds that went in and out, and missed a tip in before the buzzer sounded. Gordon Hayward led the way with 12 points.

Gonzaga 91, Pepperdine 84: Matt Bouldin scored 32 points as Gonzaga opened up an early double digit lead against the Waves and never really let Pepperdine get back into it, taking over sole possession of first place in the WCC. Elias Harris had 20 points and 13 boards while Steven Gray added 20 points as well.
