Wednesday's Pregame Beat

Pay attention, because there are quite a few interesting games on the schedule tonight.

7:00 pm: Oral Roberts @ Louisville: Oral Roberts has been as up and down as any team in the country this season. They beat Missouri and Stanford, but are 6-5 on the year with losses to Sam Houston State and Arkansas-Little Rock. Louisville, as has become a trend for the Cardinals, is going through their typical early season swoon, having lost back-to-back home games to Western Carolina and Charlotte. Everyone was worried about how the Cardinals would be able to function offensively without Terrence Williams and Earl Clark, but it seems, at least in the early going, the bigger issue is on the defensive side of the ball. Charlotte and Western Carolina scored 87 and 91 points, respectively.

7:00 pm: Richmond @ South Carolina: South Carolina better come ready to play tonight. Richmond, who is 7-2 on the season with both of their losses coming on the road to good CAA teams (William & Mary and VCU), have knocked off both Missouri and Mississippi State, and boast one of the most underrated guard tandems in the country in David Gonzalvez and Kevin Anderson. Richmond's issue, however, in depth, as they aren't getting a ton of production or minutes from their subs. The Gamecocks are still without Dominique Archie and Mike Holmes, but with Devan Downey leading the way, USC is going to pressure full court and run the floor offensively.

7:00 pm: Cincinnati @ UAB: UAB comes into this game at 8-1, but they have yet to really beat a quality opponent. The Bearcats fell out of the rankings after losing to crosstown rival Xavier on Sunday, and a win against the Blazers on the road would do a lot to restore credibility to their record.

8:00 pm: UTEP @ Ole Miss: This could end up being the game of the night. Ole Miss looks to be the favorite to win the SEC West, but the Miners match-up pretty well with them. They have a quick point guard (Randy Culpepper) to match-up with Chris Warren and the size to play a high-major on the interior. The issue is going to be slowing down Terrico White and Eniel Polynice. Both are big, strong, athletic guards. Will Julyan Stone and Christian Polk be able to match-up with them?

11:00 pm: Oklahoma State @ Stanford: The Pokes were expected to be a player in the Big XII, but lost their one road game by 20 to Tulsa. How will they handle heading out to the West Coast? It should be worth the price of admission to see James Anderson and Landry Fields, two of the best players you have never heard of, square off.
