The BIAH Quotables

This a new feature we are trying out here at BIAH this season. Throughout the week, we are going to post some notable quotes or excerpts that show up in our google reader. Stupid people say stupid things 24 hours a day, and being somehow associated with the college hoops landscape does not preclude that fact. That said, we will not limit our quotables to the simple and idiotic, as the insightful and intelligent will also be highlighted. Feel free to pass along any quotables you stumble across to contactbiah@gmail.com or @ballinisahabit.

Wisconsin got a huge win last night over Duke. Coach Bo Ryan thought turnovers might have been the key, as his team only committed five:

That's five opportunities you didn't get a shot at the basket. They had 11 opportunities that they didn't have to score. That might have been the difference in the game.
North Carolina beat Michigan State for the third time in a row. UNC senior Deon Thompson had this to say:
It feels just as good as the first time, There was no confetti falling from the sky, but it definitely felt good to win. This is something we needed.
MSU's Draymond Green described what its like to lose to UNC again:
It's getting pretty sickening. They're a top program in the nation, but so are we.
MSU coach Tom Izzo offers similar words:
It's OK to lose to them, but it's the first time we've really competed in the last three games. So maybe that's a start in the right direction, but you've got to win games too. Our program's not where theirs is, but our program's not where there's moral victories for being close. Some guys have to step up. I was really disappointed in a couple of guys' performance.
UNC guard Marcus Ginyard didn't care that the ACC lost the ACC/Big-10 Challenge:
Big Ten can have this challenge. Duke loses, we all win...
The Florida Gators beat Florida A&M by 21, but Billy Donovan was not impressed by his teams play:
I'm not so sure we could have been ranked in the top 300 with the way we played tonight.
Kansas' Cole Aldrich has a fake tooth and likes to take it out from time to time:
It’s a new fashion,It’s one of those new things that Hollywood needs to get hold of.
His roommate, junior Tyrell Reid thinks it is weird:
He walks around the room and cooks without it on. It’s funny seeing somebody cooking with a missing tooth.
UConn coach Jim Calhoun got on bench player Darius Smith for "going through the motions" in practice:
Darius, are you dead?
Calhoun describes the situation:
He kind of looked at me, had no idea. He probably had never been asked that question before. I said 'Quite frankly, you're moving like a dead man walking.' Now he gets upset. He's very concerned.
DePaul's Mac Koshwal is going to be out 3-4 weeks with a foot injury. His coach Jerry Wainwright is struggling to find a replacement:
Unless I tape two of them(players) together, we're awfully small without Mac. I don't know how far you can go without a guy in the middle.
ESPN's Dana O'Neil made a great point regarding the parity in the top 15:
But as I was watching that game, I realized the only thing that seems certain in this early basketball season is that nothing is for certain. On Sunday night, Tom Izzo told me that after Kansas, "two through 15, you could throw a dart." I couldn't agree more.
