Georgia Tech's stellar recruiting class took a bit of a hit as Kammeon Hosley, a top 100 forward out of Sparta, GA, tore his acl.
Hosley hurt the knee August 1st playing pick-up with the team, but found out earlier today he would need surgery and will miss to '09-'10 season.
While Hosley was expected to play a supporting role this year behind Derrick Favors and Gani Lawal, his role was significant as he brings a different skill set to the table than either projected starter. Where Lawal and Favors are your quintessenntial college posts (big, strong, low post scorers), Hosley is a spindly 6'8" athlete. He is raw offensively, but he is a tremendous athlete that can run the floor, defend four positions, and hit the offensive glass. Think Renaldo Balkman, the former South Carolina player.
Even with Hosley out for the year, Tech should be a borderline top 25 team with Favors and Lawal up front and Iman Shumpert in the back court.
