Matt Pilgrim and Kevin Galloway leave Kentucky

College basketball teams are allowed 13 scholarship players. As of three weeks ago, Kentucky had 17, not including Jodie Meeks, who can still pull his name out of draft consideration and return to Lexington.

At the end of May, three players (AJ Stewart, Donald Williams, and Jared Carter) all decided to leave Kentucky. That brought the number down to 14, which meant that two players were still on the chopping block.

News coming out of Kentucky last night was that Kevin Galloway and Matt Pilgrim would be leaving the program. Galloway, a senior who transferred in from the College of Southern Idaho this past year, averaged 10 mpg for the Wildcats. Pilgrim never saw the court, as he was sitting out this past season after transferring in from Hampton.

This now means that Calipari has trimmed his Kentucky roster down to 12 scholarship players, meaning that there is a scholarship available should Jodie Meeks return to Kentucky.
