GANI LAWAL IS HEADING BACK TO GEORGIA TECH: Paul Hewitt got some great news on Sunday as Gani Lawal decided to return the Yellow Jackets for his junior campaign. Lawal looked like he had a shot of being a late first rounder, but apparently realized he still needs to great deal of work on his skill set and his understanding of the game before he is ready for the league.
How often do you hear that?
Lawal's decision to come back gives Tech what could turn into the best frontcourt in the ACC. Joining Lawal up front will be senior Zachary Peacock and two freshman, top 100 recruit Kammeon Holsey and Derrick Favors, considered by some to be the best recruit in the country.
Tech also gets back guards Iman Shumpert, Moe Miller, and DeAndre Bell (who is recovering from surgery to repair spinal stenosis, the disease TJ Ford had). Also in the mix in the backcourt will be two freshmen, point guard Mfon Udofia and shooter Glen Rice Jr, both top 50 recruits.
What does all of that mean?
The Ramblin' Wreck will be good next season. How good? Probably not quite top 10, like the Atlanta Journal Constitution believes, but definitely good enough to make a run at the top of the ACC.
