One of the rumors floating around the internet today (h/t MSNBC via NBADraft.net) is that the Knicks have guaranteed the former Davidson star that they will use their lottery pick on him, and that this is one of the major reasons that Curry decided to leave school.
If the lottery stays true to form (which is far from a guarantee), the Bulls will be selecting 8th.
Given the lack of star power in this year's draft outside the top two, this would be far from a bad pick for the Knicks in this position. Think about it. With Mike D'Antoni at the helm, the Knicks want to play an open court style, hoisting up a lot of threes. Is there a better pure shooter in this year's draft (is there one in the league right now for that matter) than Steph?
No, if the Knicks pull a Chicago and somehow land in the top two or three, I doubt they will use the pick on Curry. Blake Griffin has the chance to be another Amare Stoudamire and Ricky Rubio could be New York's version of Steve Nash/Jason Kidd. That is probably too much to pass up. But if they land anywhere else, picking up a guy like Curry would be a great fit. Think about how successful Raja Bell was for the Suns.
Like I said, this year's draft is bereft of the star power from last year. Teams are going to need to look for guys to fill a role, and Curry would be as close to a perfect fit for the Knicks as you can get.
