There actually is an important Big East game on tonight as West Virginia (16-8, 5-6) hosts Villanova (20-4, 8-3). Villanova has won six in a row, but West Virginia is going to be a tough match-up for them,, especially is Dwayne Anderson doesn't play. Both these teams are tough defensively, but Villanova has really been hot on the offensive end of late, scoring an average of 99.3 ppg in their last three. West Virginia is not huge, but they have a number of athletic big men. They love to get after the offensive glass. Villanova is going to need to box out, and if they can keep the Mountaineers from getting too many second chance points, they should be able to win this one on the road.
The only other game of any significance is Butler (21-2, 12-1) taking on Illinois-Chicago (11-13, 4-10).
With that, I will leave you with a couple news and notes for the day:
- UConn guard Jerome Dyson looks like he may be done for the season after tearing the lateral meniscus in his right knee. Big blow to the Huskies title hopes as Dyson is UConn's second leading scorer and best perimeter defender.
- Arkansas freshman PG Courtney Fortson has been suspended indefinitely by head coach John Pelphrey. While he gives no specifics about the cause of the suspension, Fortson fouled out of a recent game and at the same time, a tech was called on the Razorback bench. Fortson was averaging 14.5 ppg and 6.5 apg.
- Playboy's hottest sportscaster. Any guess who won?
