Tuesday Morning Shootaround

Not much of significance last night, but I did get to see Louisville play for the first time. This Cardinal squad has the look of a Final Four team, but I'm not convinced yet. I'll get into it a little more in a coming post, but basically it comes down to this - the Cardinals are a poor shooting team (32% from deep, 64% from the line), and if you are a poor shooting team, it would make sense that you would take the ball to the basket, right? Can you tell me why they have taken more three's (151) than free throws (131)?

Anyway, Louisville won their third game in three days to take home the title in the Marques Maybin Classic. It wasn't pretty, but it was their third game in three days. Terrence Williams had only 5 points, but he added 13 rebounds and 4 assists. He has yet to find his shooting stroke (35% from the floor, 48% from the line, 25% from deep), but he is leading the team in rebounding, assists, and steals.

Two other games took place last night that you may or may not care about:

  • Georgetown 100, Savannah State 38: Yea... it was a mismatch. I mean, Georgetown put up 100 points. Things will be a little different on Saturday when the Hoyas host Memphis.
  • Illinois 68, Hawaii 58: The Illini's defense has been great the last two games. They forced 27 Georgia turnovers on Saturday, and last night scored 28 points off of 22 Hawaii turnovers. Chester Frazier and Dominique Keller led UI with 14 a piece.
