Not much on the schedule for tonight. The biggest game of the night is probably Wisconsin (5-1) heading to Blacksburg to take on Virginia Tech (4-2) in the opening game of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. I've seen both teams play a couple times this year and I am not all that impressed with either of them. Wisconsin never is a high scoring team, but I think that they are going to have a really tough time scoring this year. Other than Trevon Hughes, who is going to be able to create their own shot? For the Hokies, AD Vassallo, Jeff Allen, and Malcolm Delaney all are averaging over 16 ppg, but as a team they are not quite there yet. Beyond those three, there is not much talent on the roster and each of those three guys tend to force bad shots. The biggest thing that VT is missing is a play-making point guard - a guy that doesn't need to take a lot of shots, but can distribute the ball and run a team (think Tory Jackson from Notre Dame).
Here is the rest of tonight's games that you should know about:
- 7:00 PM: Colgate (2-2) @ Syracuse (6-0)
- 7:30 PM: Delaware State (1-8) @ UConn (6-0)
- 9:00 PM: Kent State (3-2) @ Kansas (4-1): Al Fisher of Kent State might be the best player in the country that you haven't heard of. There have been a lot of amazing performances this year (Stephen Curry, Blake Griffin, Kyle McAlarney), but what Fisher did in Kent State's win over St. Louis is right up there. He had 35 points, including 25 of the last 26 Kent State points. The Golden Flashes have missed out on their first two chances to knock off a power conference school (Texas A&M, Illinois), and a win against Kansas would go a long way in improving their NCAA tournament resume.
