10/16 - Some Links, Some News

Haven't done one of these in a while, and there's a lot of news to get caught up on...

-San Diego State forward Lorrenzo Wade has been suspended indefinitely by coach Steve Fisher after he plead guilty to felony burglary charges for stealing a tv from a women's apartment. Apparently, Wade has been held out of all team activities for the last two weeks, but the school did not announce the suspension until Wednesday, a day after Wade was in court.

-Chris Collinsworth, a 6'9" forward from BYU who averaged 3.2 ppg and 4.8 rpg as a freshman before heading to Sydney for his two-year mormon mission, was attacked yesterday and stabbed in the back. His companion was cut pretty badly on the hand, severing tendons and requiring surgery. Apparently the injuries Collinsworth suffered were not too serious, as he has already returned to his mission.

-Are they really earning degrees at record rates, or are schools being more lenient with athletes to be perceived in a better light when it comes to graduation rates? Am I too cynical?

-Jerry Jones wants Texas and North Carolina to play a game in the new stadium he is building.

-Could this actually sway North Carolina in Obama's favor? Obama must be a Heels fan. Remember when he laced 'em up and scrimmaged with them?

-Someone gave Jerry Tarkanian a blog.

-This may be the most epic post in the history of blogs - one reason to love every college basketball team.

-Marshall's Markel Humphrey, who averaged 13.3 ppg and 5.6 rpg last year, will be sidelined for at least 6 weeks with a stress fracture in his left foot.
