UCF hasn't has an on-campus visit from the NCAA just yet, but the Golden Knights have already begun an internal review. And you better believe that on-campus visit will be coming shortly.*
(*I've always found it ironic that the NCAA's investigative team uses some of the same lingo -- on-campus visit -- as is used in the recruitment of student-athletes.)
"We take the current allegations of NCAA violations very seriously," a spokesman said in a statement. "Our review of this matter began immediately upon receiving notice. It is premature for us to provide comment regarding these allegations at this time, without having the opportunity to thoroughly and completely review the facts. Following our review we will appropriately address this matter."
UCF's AD finally spoke to
As worrisome as it is that UCF had an ex-con with felony convictions on his rap sheet and connections to an agent working as a runner and recruiter, the biggest issue for the UCF program is likely going to be that they eavesdropped on phone calls with recruits. As the NCAA investigation starts to pick up, it will be interesting to see if the talent that Jones has brought to the Orlando, FL, school will stay there.
