Kentucky 94, UNC-Asheville 57: Kentucky finally looked dominant against an inferior opponents as they utilized a full court press to open up a 80-36 lead midway through the second half. DeMarcus Cousins (24 points and 10 boards) and John Wall (12 points, 14 assists, 6 steals, and just 1 turnovers) played tremendous. But John Calipari happt for two reasons: youthful exuberance and lazy play. He said that the eight turnovers the Wildcats had was not enough because it meant they weren't aggressive enough offensively.
Other notable scores:
- Syracuse 92, Colgate 58: The Orange were up 47-16 at halftime in a game that was never in doubt. Wesley Johnson had 19 to lead five players in double figures.
- Georgetown 83, Mt. St. Mary's 62: Greg Monroe had 19 points and 11 rebounds while Chris Wright added 18 points on 4-5 from deep as the Hoyas rolled past MSM.
- Rider 81, St. Joe's 73: The Broncs used a 14-1 run late in the second half to take a 68-61 lead. Ryan Thompson had 21 to lead Rider.
- Seton Hall 93, NJIT 53: Herb Pope had 22 and 11 boards to lead the Pirates, his fourth straight double doube.
- Memphis 77, Oakland 46: 20 points from Elliot Williams carried the Tigers to a blow out win.
- Arizona State 74, Arkansas Pine-Bluff 57: Eric Boateng had 17 points and 7 boards as the Sun Devils defense held APB to just 37% shooting.
- St. Mary's 78, San Jose State 71: Mickey McConnell scored 19 points to lead the Gaels as they rallied from a 15 point halftime deficit. Wayne Hunter hit back-to-back threes with about 8 minutes left in the game to give SMC a lead they would never relinquish.
- Charles Jenkins of Hofstra had 38 points and 5 boards while hitting 5-7 from three as the Pride won 84-80 against Fairfield.
- Keith Gabriel of VMI was playing against DIII Lynchburg, but he still had a fantastic stat line - 34 points, 6 boards, 4 steals, and 3 assists.
- Penn State's Talor Battle scored 28 of his 32 points in the second half as the Nittany Lions won the opener of the ACC/Big Ten challenge.
- John Wall, the star freshman at Kentucky, had 12 points, 14 assists, 6 steals, and just 1 turnover in a blowout of UNC-Asheville.
Penn State's the first Big 10-team. Duke is 10-0 in the challenge.
