Sunday's Pregame Beat

We'll keep it quick this morning, as Sunday is the Lord's gridiron's day.

2 pm: UC Irvine @ Texas: Who is going to be starting at point guard for the Longhorns? Do they have enough shooting to be a final four team? Texas has as many question marks as any top five team. Will we get some answers today?

4 pm: Valpo @ UNC: The Heels looked unimpressive in their win over FIU, but looked dominant in beating NCCU. Which Heels team shows up? A lot of people are doubting the Tar Heels right now, but a relatively light early season schedule will help the freshman get comfortable playing at this level. Hopefully, these guys will develop sooner rather than later.

4 pm: Loyola (MD) @ West Virginia: The Mountaineers are big, strong and athletic. There aren't many teams in the Big East with the horses to match-up inside, let alone Loyola.

5 pm: Northern Arizona @ Arizona: The Wildcats are a storyline that I will be following closely all season. Zona signed Sean Miller, who lured five top 100 recruits, and Nic Wise, to Tucson this year. Will this young group be able to continue the Wildcats streak of NCAA Tournaments?

10 pm: Portland State @ Washington: U-Dub got 48 points and 19 rebounds out of Matthew Bryan-Amaning and Quincy Pondexter last night. With production like that coming from the Huskies front court, they are going to be a difficult team to knock off.

Other notable games:

  • 3 pm: FIU @ Tulsa
  • 4 pm: Brown @ Virginia Tech
  • 4 pm: Western Illinois @ Kansas State
  • 4 pm: Stetson @ Florida
  • 4 pm: Oregon State @ Texas Tech
  • 7 pm: Chicago State @ Iowa State
  • 8 pm: Colorado State @ Oregon
