The NCAA has brought the hammer down on the Redhawks. The Ohio Valley Conference school will face a number of penalties, including:
- Losing a scholarship in '09-'10
- Vacating their wins from the '06-'07 and '07-'08 seasons. All 23 of them.
- A four year probationary period, ending in 2013.
One in the amount of $239 for unpaid institutional fees in August 2007, and the other when the former assistant coach drove a student-athlete 171 miles from campus to Memphis in October 2006.I'm glad the NCAA is starting to come down on schools offering extra benefits to players and recruits. Maybe now, guys like OJ Mayo or Derrick Rose or Nate Miles or Tim Floyd or ... (should I keep going?) will think twice before breaking NCAA rules.
